Madeline Reid

Madeline is committed to helping workers seek justice in the workplace. She was drawn to labour law by a passion for social justice and a belief in the power of movements to achieve meaningful change.

Madeline joined Black Burke Mayor after practicing as legislative counsel with the British Columbia Ministry of Attorney General. In that role, she worked at the intersection of law and policy, drafting legislation in a wide range of areas.

Before practicing, Madeline clerked for the Honourable Justice Sheilah Martin of the Supreme Court of Canada and two justices of the Court of Appeal for British Columbia. She also had the opportunity to work on civil and criminal litigation while articling with the provincial government.

Madeline earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Victoria and a Master of Law from the University of Cambridge. At UVic, she volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada and received a number of awards for academic excellence, including the Law Society of British Columbia Gold Medal for highest academic standing in her year.

Madeline holds a Bachelor of Music with a major in performance. In her spare time, she enjoys playing violin and piano, singing in choir and volunteering in the community.
